Wenner-Gren Foundation

Bursary Awards for IPS 2008

IPS 2008 has been awarded a grant by the Wenner-Gren Foundation to support about 10 delegates from lower income countries to participate in the congress, and applications are invited for these funds.

Eligibility

  • Those working in primatology who are both resident in and citizens of a primate habitat country which is not listed by Wenner-Gren as a high-income country (see list below)
  • Funding is available to support attendance at IPS 2008 in Edinburgh, UK, up to a normal maximum of £560. In addition, the registration fee of £190 will be paid for successful applicants
  • Successful applicants are expected to make an oral or poster presentation at IPS 2008, for which the abstract must be accepted by the Scientific Committee
  • Applicants must nominate a referee who is a member of IPS
  • Normally no more than two grants will be awarded to applicants from any one country

Procedure

1. By 30th November, applicants should submit to wennergrenawards@ips2008.co.uk:

2. If the application is eligible (see eligibility criteria above), the application including the abstract will be considered by the Scientific Committee for IPS 2008

3. Successful applicants will be informed by 7th January 2008, and they will be sent instructions as to how to register for IPS 2008 as a Wenner-Gren award holder

4. Applicants who are not awarded Wenner-Gren funds will also be informed by 7th January 2008. Those whose abstracts are accepted will be encouraged to seek funding elsewhere and given the opportunity to register for IPS 2008 up until 1st February 2008.
